Analysis of fracture surfaces of CF(PyC)/MgLi composites by means of in-situ Auger electron spectroscopy (in Slovak)

Abstract
Composite bar made of Mg-12wt.{%}Li alloy reinforced with pyrolytic carbon coated T300 carbon fibers was broken under vacuum of 5 x 10-8 Pa in the chamber of the Auger apparatus. Both fiber jacket and fiber cross-fracture were analyzed with Auger electron spectroscopy focusing on Mg(LVV), Li(KVV), C(KVV) and O(KVV) transition regions. Thin oxidic film consisting predominantly of Li-O type compounds was found on the fiber jacket and fiber cross-fracture. After sputtering, this film almost disappeared wherein "carbidic" C(KVV) patterns belonging to Li2C2 were detected quite uniformly within whole fiber cross-fracture.
