Influence of convection on the mechanism of non-equilibrium crystallization of anomalous silver-germanium eutectics (in Czech) VOJTECH, D., BARTA, C., BARTA, C. jun. vol. 36 (1998), no. 6, pp. 381 - 392
Abstract In our paper, the results of the study on the influence of convection within a melt on the mechanism of eutectic crystallization in hypoeutectic and eutectic Ag-Ge alloys are presented. The limited convection conditions were created by processing samples under µ-gravity conditions. It was found that the suppression of convection in both alloys significantly enhances the stability of a melt below the eutectic temperature. In the case of both samples, apparent effect of the recalescence on resulting structures was shown. On the base of the distribution of minor component in eutectics of the hypoeutectic sample, the mechanism of crystallization of anomalous eutectics at a deep undercooling is suggested.
