Abstract The mechanosynthesis of tin sulfide SnS2 in this contribution was studied. X-ray qualitative diffraction analysis showed that berndite 3D was created (JCPDC-ICDD 23-677). The surface layers contain except of tin sulfides also tin oxides due to mechanochemical surface oxidation.
