The thermodynamic framework of the nonlinear fracture mechanics (in Czech) ZEMANKOVA, J., FIALA, Z. vol. 33 (1995), no. 6, pp. 411 - 417
Abstract Surprising results of measurements of the interfacial fracture toughness of the interface made from otherwise brittle materials is merely another impetus for think over restrictions of the nonlinear fracture mechanics. With respect to the extensive energy dissipation we are of the opinion that in the nonlinear fracture mechanics it is no longer possible to ignore the second law of thermodynamics. Its proper application can, in our opinion, quantitatively explain the behaviour of the crack in different systems exposed to different conditions by virtue of the influence of dissipation processes.
