Abstract Fe-Ga and Fe-Ga-Al alloys are studied by different mechanical spectroscopy techniques, conventional microscopy, DSC, and dilatometry. Main contribution to amplitude dependent damping is assigned to magnetomechanical damping, which is very sensitive to structural state of alloys. Both temperature dependent thermally activated relaxation effects and effects due to phase transitions are discussed in terms of alloy structures and their ordering.
