Possibility of estimation of partition coefficient from the measured segregation characteristics of elements (in Czech) DOBROVSKA, V., DOBROVSKA, J., REK, A., STRANSKY, K. vol. 35 (1997), no. 3, pp. 198 - 210
Abstract In this paper an original method for estimation of effective partition coefficients of elements in steel from their measured distribution curves is presented. This method is based on relations among the following parameters: solid/liquid partition coefficient of the given element, segregation equation (model), which describes the crystallization and segregation processes in the system, and the dendritic heterogeneity or dendritic segregation grade (eqs. 1, 2) of given elements or impurities. Then, on the basis of these relations (eqs. 3-10) and the measured element concentrations in the given section of the structure, it is possible to estimate the effective partition coefficients of the individual elements. The method was used for estimation of the effective partition coefficients of Mn, Si, P, and S in four carbon steels with controlled speed of crystallization.
