Analysis of laser-affected zones on the 19 830 high speed steel (in Czech) JURCI, P., HONZIK, O., STOLAR, P. vol. 33 (1995), no. 3, pp. 165 - 172
Abstract Results of the study of a surface laser heat treatment influence on structure and properties of a CSN 41 9830 high speed steel are presented. A laser melted and transformation hardened material has been investigated. It has been determined that the material structure has a substantial influence on material characteristics after laser heat treatment. Quantitative and also partly qualitative changes of a steel phase composition occur owing to a non-equilibrium heating and cooling of material microvolume. These changes influence a material hardness after laser heat treatment so as in a condition after tempering to secondary hardness. The crack nucleation or other discontinuities didn't occur during laser affecting steel surface.
