Abstract In the paper results of a systematic study of 43 binary systems platinum - admixture are presented. The equations of the solidus and liquidus curves in the limit area adjoining the melting temperature of Pt were computed for 28 binary systems. The values of distribution coefficients ko of admixtures in Pt give us information about the distributing ability of the individual admixtures and impurity elements in platinum by zone melting and normal freezing. They were experimentally verified. The periodical correlation dependence of the distribution coefficients of admixtures in platinum on proton number of admixtures was determined.
