Mechanical properties of the particles of the mechanically alloyed system Al-Al4C3 ZUBKO, P., PESEK, L., BESTERCI, M., VADASOVA, Z. vol. 47 (2009), no. 1, pp. 39 - 42
Abstract The contribution deals with estimation of mechanical properties of both particles and matrix in the Al-Al4C3 system. Using the depth sensing indentation technique, the instrumented hardness (HIT), elastic modulus (EIT) and indentation deformation work (W) were measured. The FeAl3 particles were identified based on both EDX analysis and measured mechanical properties. Hardness and modulus of FeAl3 particles are 10 and 2.5 times higher than the values of matrix.
