Abstract In this paper the original method for the estimation of the distribution curves of the dendritic segregation of the alloing elements and impurities in the metals and metal alloys and its application are presented. The method describes the relations among the following parameters: the solid/liquid partition coefficient of the given element including its statistical distribution, the segregation equation according to Scheil [6], Brody and Flemings [1] and Smrha [7] and the dendritic segregation grade of the given element in the solid after solidification. Using this method is possible to estimate the distribution segregation curve of the element in the real structure of the given metal or metal alloy. The application of this method has been qualitatively verified on the base of comparison of the calculated and measured distribution curves of the dendritic segregation of the Mn and Si (see figs. 2 to 4) in steel.
