Abstract
The paper analyses notch toughness assessment of full scale testing samples (FS) knowing upper shelf toughness of subsized (SS) samples of structural steels. The predic- ted relationship of notch toughness found on different size testing samples proposed by Schindler is in very good accordance with experimental results. Empirical proportional constant q* = 0,54 between notch toughness of full scale standard Charpy type specimens and sub sized specimens of studied structural steels very well corresponds with theore- tically predicted constant of q*= 0,50 - 0,54. Then it can be utilized also practically. The exact knowledge of the size effect of testing specimens on temperature dependence of notch toughness is conditioned by detailed analysis of the scatter band in experimental results.

Key words
